Childrens Book, Comic – Chris Oatley: Good Character Design Article

This website talks about what should be put into a characters development if a good result is to be achieved. The author explains that cliches should be ditched, allowing for surprising characters to emerge. He also states that a character should be designed from the inside out, creating a back story and personality that can then inform the design process. These are interesting points to note and have made me realise that I shouldn’t rush straight into drawing the character before understanding fully who the character is.
