I find the work of Su Blackwell to be intriguing and a good source of inspiration when it comes to thinking of ways to incorporate recycled materials. The trouble I am having at the minute is thinking of something that can be illustrated using reclaimed goods. Su Blackwell’s use of old books to create sculptures from has given me the idea of basing my entry around the material itself. Perhaps using the narrative or contents of a recycled book as a springboard for creating an image. This would help me to keep the work within my area of interest, narrative illustration. I’m sure there are many more ways of generating ideas like this which I will explore further.
